newborns

special newborn sessions…

These sessions are designed for the newbies under 2 weeks only. They only stay in that curled up sleepy state for a short while. We want to capture that in these artful sessions. Due to the nature of these sleepy sessions, we take our time. We will allow up to 3 hours so we are not rushed and we have plenty of time for feeding and cuddling to keep baby asleep and comfortable. We will strive to capture those amazing artful images of your newborn that you will treasure forever!

SESSION INFO

Since we strive to photograph your newborn in the first week or two of birth, we can try to set up your appointment ahead of time around their due date. We can then adjust it later if needed once they are born. My preference is to get them in around 7 days when they are still tiny and sleep alot. We want sleeping newborns and not awake photos. These are art images and not basic portraits. If you prefer awake or a basic newborn session, you are welcome to book a regular session.

We will create a warm and quiet enviroment that will allow the baby to sleep. Please bring the baby in well fed and with loose clothing that will not be difficult to remove. Please do not put on tight socks as they leave marks on the skin. Diapers should be loose also. Most shots will be without clothing, so bring a few cuddly blankets for swaddling and in between sets. The only clothing we may do are diapers and hats. We have a large and growing collection of newborn hats. If you have a special one, feel free to bring it.

We love to create sets that are special to your family also. If you have a job or hobby that you would like to incorporate into the photos, feel free to bring props along. For example, if you are a firefighter, bring some gear, hat and hose. If you are a doctor, bring a lab coat and stethoscope, if you love gardening, we can set up a gardening set, etc. We can get creative and make the session more personal.

Please allow 2-3 hours for this session. Art cannot be rushed. Babies cannot be forced to sleep. I have extra patience and love working with these little angels. Don’t expect your newborn to come in and sleep perfectly. We will have to work at it, but it is worth all the effort.
